Pescare in Vietnam: una guida di prima mano

Where we have fished

Two kinds of water so far. In the north, the ponds around Yên Bái, about 150 km from Hà Nội by road, for peacock bass and snakehead. In the south, the small ponds between the apartment towers of Ho Chi Minh City, where Francesco lives and works: street fishing in the city. The first episode of the Vietnam series is set in Ho Chi Minh City; Yên Bái appears only in the opening, where Francesco tells how the adventure started.

What we fish for

• Snakehead. An air-breathing ambush predator. Read the species page for what it is and how it behaves.
• Peacock bass. A South American cichlid that lives in warm water and is hunted by sight. See the peacock bass page.

Our rules

We practise catch and release. We do not move fish from one water to another, and we never release a fish somewhere it does not already live.
